Instead of making your own vodka, which would be very expensive, why not make something out of vodka? I have a recipe to make your own Amaretto.
Ingredients;
3 1/2 cups water
1 lb. (pound) brown sugar
1 lb. white sugar
1 oz.almond extract
1/5 of vodka.
Combine the sugars and the water and boil on low ( just simmering ) for 20 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
When cooled, add the 1/5 of vodka and the almond extract..
Mix well and bottle.

I found this link, and it looks pretty good. It includes ingredients, distillation equipment required, malt guide, etc., but I'm not sure how much detail it really goes into:

Now, I found this book, that you can buy an 'electronic' version of, for only $10. That's a pretty good buy. You can buy the hard copy for $20, but why not just shell out $10 and download it?

Good luck!

Doesn't making your own cost more money and more time? When you can just buy a cold one and drink it. Are you doing it to make money?
