I live in Michigan and I was curious about poeples ideas for Detroit, Ypsi, Jackson, or if you dont live in Michigan- please give your opionon for any city that needs some bright ideas!

I have been to Detroit several times. Fifty years ago it was the most unsightly place I had ever seen. Over the years it has become worse. So I would have to say there is no hope in the immediate future. Why waste any money on a prov en lost cause?

Change the local government. Coleman is dead, thank God, Archer has left, to bad & now you (we) have Kilpatrick.
The city of Detroit will not change because the vass majority of those that live within the city limits just do not give a da mn. Until we ALL work together, nothing will change. Look at what Dearborn has become. The A-rabs don't want to live in Detroit, through maybe they should. Think of the possibilities!

The City Fathers should consider the blighted areas as beyond redemption. No one wants to build a $600,000 house in some isolated pocked amidst urban decay.
Therefore, they should just bulldoze entire blocks, and turn them into attractive, green parks. Bigger areas could become neighborhood mini-farms. Once these areas are no longer unsightly slums, investors will want to buy surrounding areas.
You have to think big..... cleaning up one block is not the answer.

I also live in Michigan,there are any number of groups who help clean up the city of Detroit.
If you wish to help just volunteer for one of them.
