In Mark 6:35-44 - allegedly fed 5000 men with five loaves and two fish, with 12 basketfuls left over

In Mark 8:1-9 - allegedly fed 4000 people with seven loaves of bread and a few small fish, with 7 basketfuls left over

In the second incident, it was not until after his disciples allgedly asked in
4 "And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?".

If he had done it earlier, why that stupid question, or is it that Jesus lacked intelligence to select intelligent disciples?

They were all good. The writers messed it up and the editor forgot to correct it.

Yes, they had seen the miracle before. Does that mean that it is routine, a matter of course, and just something to be expected? I seriously doubt that was the case. I think the reason why they asked the question was because of Jesus previous comment about the hungry crowd...
Mark 8:
1 In those days the multitude being very great, and having nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples unto him, and saith unto them,
2 I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat:
3 And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.
4 And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?

Yes I believe so. Whether the crowd was as big as it is said in the Gospel is a moot point. There is always the story and then there is the truth. You see Christ was such a figure that what he has undoubtedly done was probably out of all proportion with enthusiasm. What I do know is that Jesus did fulfill the crowd's spiritual hunger or thirst and that is probably the most important thing that is overlooked.

The disiplces did not have faith. Or they had a lack of intelligence. However you want to see it. Either way...looks like God can use anyone!

It is because His disciples would lack faith at times--shows that we should not doubt the power of God. And we all fall short....

Heh. If you look in the Bible, the desciples were stupid. No one realy knew what he was doing.

It wasn't a bad choice on Jesus's part. He might have had a reason for doing that.
