My parakeets love to chirp and screech every single time that they see me doing homework. It especially drives me crazy when they start to constantly screech back and forth between each other even though they are sitting 5 inches from each other. Nothing keeps them quite. And then they seem all too happy from distracting me from doing my homework.
Is there any limit to a parakeets happiness?

Your little cuties have learned that carrying on gets your attention, which is what they are trying to do. One way of getting them to quiet down is to cover their cage (as suggested). However, a better way is to simply let them out of the cage. So long as their wings are properly clipped, they should not get into too much trouble and all of the interesting things outside their cage will keep them occupied.... especially if you give them something neat to play with, like a frozen bananna or a wooden toy which is kept outside their cage for just such occaisions!

covering them will not help. try it on a 3 year old and see how it works. the reason they scream when you are doing your home work is because you are not paying attention to them, my bird does it too. either you go to a different room or move their cage so they cant see you.
and you cant expect then not to talk to each other- its just not fair to say that you dont want your bird to make noise. stick 2 toddlers alone in a room and see how loud they get after a while.
try giving them something to do- tie a toilet paper roll (empty) horizontally to the bars of their cage. they will have a blast running through it and ripping it to shreds
good luck with the homework, lol, i dont even try anymore when my bird is in the room ;P

It is cool that they are so happy. If they are screeching while you are doing homework on a keyboard, it may be that the noise is something they recognize. Putting a blanket or beach towel over their cage will help.
good luck & blessing

That's... that's just what they do. If your parakeets are tame, you -may- be able to train them to keep it down, but otherwise, they're just going to screech thier heads off all day long.
You'd do well to find a new place to study >_<

They do that because they want to attract you and get your attention and they see with your attention somewhere else. And its normall for parakeets to do their noises like that i have 2 parakeets i had to get used to them on the first days i had them.

Cover them with a lightweight blanket, so the entire cage is covered that will stop them from making noise.
Parakeets are very noisy didn't you notice that in the pet store when you bought them?

yes as soon as you want quiet time (night) put a dark cloth over the cage, this will quiet them down pretty quickly. Then remove in the morning. This is a daily routine.
