true story!

they were raised 'godly' and life sucked, they left church, later in a last ditch effort they tried one more time, didn't work and they took their own life

even the pastor was depressed and couldn't say much as why an all powerful god could not stop a person from killing self, let alone explain why jesus decided to put himself in harm's way or find where it says people who commit suicide are hell bound

Because Christianity is soul crushing and devoid of all rational thought. When you've discovered how life is outside of the chains, it's hard to go back to that prescribed idea.

Satan has No Mercy at all towards Human Beings.
He hates all of us.
He gives Children of GOD more Trouble then the Lost.
But, he does not Discriminate.
Satan is a Curse. If he tried to be nice to you, it would end up a Curse.

Suicide Is Not the "Unpardonable Sin" for Children of GOD.
We have FreeWills.
GOD will not Stop Us if we are Totally Determined to do Something. That would be WitchCraft. To "Make" Some one "Do" Something.
A FreeWill is free and GOD Almighty Upholds that.
If a Child of GOD takes Him,Her-self out Early, they will go to Heaven, BUT they will Lose a Lot of Rewards seeing that they Coulda Stayed and did some Work for Jesus.

Jesus had to Sneak into the Creation (Earth) and get into Hell to get Back what Adam let satan gain hold of.

Jesus was the First True Secret Agent Man, and because of What Jesus Did, If we Accept HIM as our Saviour, our Spirits can get Recreated, and Heaven will be our Home after that.

P.S. Heaven is a Planet. Earth is a Spin-Off of Heaven, Heaven is alot more of a Spiritual Nature then Earth.
GOD Almighty Loves the Earth, it is Special to HIM, and HE Created it to be Inhabited by Human Beings.

Sounds like he couldn't feel any help from the Divine and was probably looking in the wrong path... or else it had nothing to do with religion at all, and other things were getting on top of him. You can never tell why someone does this. I personally have no belief in hell at all, so I don't think it's fair to say that. It's no comfort for those left behind. What I have found is that Them Upstairs do have a reason for everything even if we can't see it, so maybe his death was to teach someone else to be strong.

Being a Christian is a spiritual state of being. It is possible to be a true and committed Christian and still be depressed and discouraged. The idea that 'God is in control" is blasphemy that flies in the face of all the reality of freedom and choice He has given people. He lets us choose. I am so sorry about the person who committed suicide. That measure of unbearable despair is a tragedy, but not God's fault or choice. Read your Bible like a newspaper and see what it says in fact, not in religiousity.

There are many instances of Christians committing Suicide. Typically suicide victims have mental health issues like severe depression. It is very difficult to justify why something like this could happen, and I hope that his family and friends like yourself will find some answers.

Unfortunately I cannot provide any, as I struggle with similar questions. Just know that others care about your situation, whether we are Christian or not.

Hang in there.

i dont believe god can decide who goes or how it happens. Just think about trying to explain all the bad things that happen to good people otherwise. Maybe god's bigger plan is to make people think and not to depend so much on him but take responsibility for their own actions. And as for people being hell bound.. we are taught that god is forgiving, so what makes this an exception?

There are so many issues here. I've had this question posed to me a few times by my Junior High students. Let me see if I can answer it.

First of all, we all have free will. And like it or not, God will not interfere with it. So if we decide to take our own life, God will not interfere. Could he? Yes. Would he? No.

Now, that being said let me go on. Someone who has reached the point of feeling that suicide is their only way out is obviously suffering in some way. It could be depression, it could be mental illness. But clearly, they are not thinking clearly. So their decision is not really being made from a position of someone who is ABLE to make a sound decision.
If God's word said that you would go to hell for suicide it would the same as saying you will go to hell if you are mentally challenged. In both cases, your mental capacity is diminished. Does what we know about the nature of God suggest that he would condemn people with diminished mental capacity? No, of course not. The bible says God is love. And a loving God would not condemn someone for taking their own life out of desperation.

Why does this happen? Well, why does anything bad happen? . There is war going on between good and evil. And, as in any war, there are innocent casualities. Why doesn't God stop it? Again, free will. When we ("we" meaning mankind as a whole) decided to live our lives our own way instead of God's way, it allowed sin in. The consequence of that is that sometimes innocent people suffer. That same way that innocent people are killed in wars. Is it fair? No. But it is our (mankind's) freewill choice. And because of our choices, others suffer. We have only ourselves to blame, not God.

As far as Jesus putting himself in harms way, that's actually a bit easier.
Jesus' purpose was to be a sacrifice for our sin. Before he came, the only way God would forgive our sin was if a blood sacrifice (animal blood) was made by the High Priest of the temple. Jesus was sent to be the final sacrifice. He knew why he was here. And since we was a man, the same as us, he had the freewill choice to follow through with his purpose, or to take the path of his own choosing. This is evident if you read Matthew 26:36-44. He knew what he had to do and did not want to do it. But in the end, he submitted to God's purpose and allowed himself to be killed. When he was dying, he took responsibility for all of our sins and then died. God forgave all that sin so Jesus could be in heaven. And so, because God forgave Jesus, it paved the way for all of us to be forgiven as well. He was the last blood sacrifice.
I guess since he knew what was coming you could consider it almost suicide. But I think if you really think about it, it was the ultimate sacrifice made by someone who DID have a clear knowledge of what He was doing and knew it was the right thing to do.

Oh and one last point. Just because someone was supposedly raised "godly" doesn't mean they were raised as Christians. As I'm sure you are aware, there are many people who pervert the teachings of Christ to support their own twisted views.

God will not stop a person from killing himself because that would be interfering with free will. A person commits suicide because of an emotional (or physical) illness. I do not believe God sends them to hell anymore than he would send to hell a person who was born with a deformity.

I would think that the person was depressed (or had some sort of mental illness) both before and after turning back to Christianity. I don't believe that God punishes the ill.

The pastor couldn't offer spiritual guidance or show you the parts of the bible that pertain to Jesus' sacrifice and why you aren't supposed to take your own life? Did he fail seminary school?

"Tried one more time" is the key to your answer. Christianity is about loving Jesus. How hard would you have to try......in order to succeed? Out of the ivory palaces, into a world of woe, only his great redeeming love, made my savior go.
