I have to get my engagement ring resized (it's white gold) - it needs to be smaller by about 1/2 or 1 size. I'm afraid it won't look as good when it comes back! Has anyone ever had their ring resized? And does it look just as good as before?

It will look exactly the same if you take it to a good jeweler!! Mine was resized before it was given to me, and I would have never known! Take it to a jeweler and talk to them about it so you can understand the process a little bit more to put your mind at ease...

Go to any reputable jeweler in your area that is NOT an outlet in a shopping mall. Real jewelry shops should have their own place in the back to do adjustments, resizing, etc. It shouldn't take longer than a few days if they're doing it in-house. I had mine resized by the shop where my fiance bought the ring; resizing was free. Good luck!

If you take it to a reputable jeweler, it should look just the same, only be smaller. I had to have mine resized after I lost a bunch of weight, it was fine. If you've just purchased the ring, take it to the jeweler where you bought it, most will include a free sizing of any rings purchased in their store.

I had mine sized down then up then back down again. There is nothing wrong except that when it was sized up in order to do that they had to melt and stretch the gold which made for a thinner band on the back side of the ring(the side that sits towards the palm of my hand). Thats the only difference. But they have told me that they can only size it one more time if I need it. So I probably wont size it again since I love my ring and dont want to jeopardize it.

Also, when they size it down they will give you the piece of gold they cut out. Not that you can do anything with it, but they will give it back to you.

As long as you take it too a good jeweler it should look no different. They actually melt the medal and then simply allow it to cool smoothly. So it should look exactly the same. I have had more than one ring resized.

I've had many rings resized, it is easier to size down than up; it will look just fine, you won't even know it was resized.

When you take it to a professional jeweler to have it resized there should be no problems. I have had rings resized many times and they have never looked different when they have been returned to me.

Yes I did. It actually looked better because they cleaned it really well. But go to a jeweler- sometimes depending on the design, it can't be resized. Mine can't be made any smaller,

I had mine resized and it's fine. as long as there's not significant detail around the entire band it's rather easy to get done. They usually just add gold to the inside of the band to make it smaller... larger might be a bigger problem though.

It should be just fine a professional jeweler is trained to hide the seam by remelting the gold cut from the ring to adjust it. Good Luck!
