My friend and I are roadtripping, and I was wondering if there were free places or beaches we could camp in/on. We already know of some parks, but I was wondering if you could camp on any public beaches for free. We'll pay, it's not about that, just want to try and save some $$. Thanks for any input...we've been looking at the state parks. (yes, i posted this in travel general catagory as well)

I don't know of any free ones, but a real nice one is Anastasia State Park near St. Augustine. You camp real close to the beach and it's nice and cheap.

County parks are really cheap. Or if you wish you can usually find a park with a remote campsite, the remote camps are almost always free. The problem there is that you may have to walk a half mile or more to your campsite. Some may be closer in though. I like to go way out and by myself just to connect with nature. But that's really cool that you want to travel and stay at parks. And don't forget, Walmarts are a good place to sleep all night, as a last result, or if the park closed too early. They are well lit, have camera security, and there is usually a back corner of the lot where you will see everyone else sleeping.
