I have seen this guy i really like who i would love to start talking to and maybe ask out for a coffee, however, i've never had a boyfriend before as i'm 16 and i always thought that love would come to me and that i should wait for a guy to ask me out. Therefore, i've no idea what is best to do...what do you think? :-)

I've always heard guys say how they'd like to have girls take the initiative. I think you should. On a weekend, I suggest you guys go out to lunch or something. Build up a friendship if, but I'm sure you guys already have one, but if you don't just get that friendship trust. Then casually ask him. Say it's a nice day Saturday. Maybe say "It's going to be 60 degrees Saturday. Finally, a nice day! It's been so cold."
He says something like "Yeah I've been sick of the cold,"
"Hey, why don't we go out for ice cream or something? I'm not doing anything Saturday?"

Just a suggestion.

in this new age its perfectly acceptable to ask a guy out. or just to coffee is the best idea. you can get a chance to talk more alone without the commitment! you should definutly go for it

It doesn't have to be a date. Just talk to him about a common interest and try and link it to another situation where you guys can get to know each other better...for example if he's in your class ask to meet up and discuss your work etc. You dont really need to talk about class and hopefully you'll get on well enough for you to mutually arrange a proper date.

just be casual and most importantly confident and relaxed.

try to find out what his interests are and try to use that to get into a conversation with him--then when the time is right ask hiim out to lunch or something. dont worry i'm sure you'll do fine!

good luck

Go for it but at 16 this is probably not your life time partner.
Not that there are many of them in reality these days.
