It depends on what the habit is, if it is cursing- that is a hard habit to cure because it comes natural since it is speech and it is out of your mouth before you even know it---do you live with someone? If you do this is what I suggest:
No one likes to pay money that you needn't have to so make a pact with the person in your house (I'm sure they have at least one bad habit) . Each of you have to put (whatever amount of money you decide on) into the kitty-- get an empty jar or even use a box- for everytime they do this bad habit---surprisingly this really works--I started this with my husband for NY resolution and we have quite a bit of money in the jar........ If it is a habit that is considered life threatening-like using drugs, smoking, etc-- I would suggest rehab................good luck to you.....I hope you "kick" it.

It depends on the habit. If you chew your nails, put Bitter Apple spray on your fingers. If you smoke, use the patch and join a support group. There's hypnosis, support groups, avoidance, medication, personal willpower. Try substituting something else in your life for your habit. Keep yourself busy. Good luck.
