Hi:
Sounds like your transmission is stricking. May be low on fluid or about to go out. I would bet the latter on a 97. My friend had a 2000 expedition and loved it. Unfortunately the transmission went out. Ford fixed it under warranty but the mechanic told him that Ford had had a lot of Expeditions come back for transmission issues. My buddy took that as a sign of things to come and got rid of the truck shortly thereafter. He recently bought a 2006 Eddie Bauer Expedition b/c despite the problems with the 2000, he really liked the truck. Now the new one has electrical problems. Something about the expedition is just unlucky I guess...

Anyway, I would suggest you get to a dealer ASAP to get it seen to. You may want to have an exit strategy if your tranny has gone bad. They can be fixed at enourmous expense but the truck is never the same afterwards...

Here's hoping you're just low on fluid!

You are talking about the vacuum module box on the side of the transmission that can cause you some problems if you are loosing vacuum.

Young lady your proplem is or is near the modulator valve, could be fluid level.
