What I think you should do is when you ask the girl out on the date just casually bring up the conversation of what your favorite drink then ask her what hers is then a few days later when you finally go out you would be able to order for her and it makes her feel like you were listening.

I think you should also what kind of tastes does she like and than you can choose a drink. It's a stupid idea to order a pinacolada if she doesn't like coconut:) or gin tonic if she hates tonic :) that's obvious.
I think that cocktails are the best for a first date - colorful and with decoration. My favorite - tequila sunrise, strawberry daiquiri and sex on the beach (but maybe not for a first date :])

Not unless you've known the person for a bit and know what they like to drink. Otherwise, it would be foolish to guess and much more respectful to simply ask and buy her the drink.

well,aim a drinker,so i will love my date to buy me a drink,first try to know what drink she will like, if no clue,pay attention to what kind of person she/he is.might like apple martini,or girl drinks,like a beer or vodka with redbull,hu i love that one.good luck
