Oh precious Lord spare me this question one more time today. I am your faithful follower and I lack the words to convery the answers to other Christians, let alone to those who choose not to believe. Father, I place it in your capable hands. Please tell Jim Darwin about it...he is an atheist I think...but a good guy.
Amen

Why do christians believe in god when there is no proof that he does exist? and dont quote the bible as thats just a fictional book used to keep people in line with the threat of hell and to explain a world that science was unable to at that time. Today we can look at the world and appreciate that the idea of a god isnt possible now we know the facts behind everything.

There's plenty of evidence that gods are man-made and don't really exist. You just have to look at the history of each religion to find they had a beginning and were based on earlier myths. If you go back far enough, it's just primitive ancestor worship and sun worship. There's also a lot of psychological evidence that shows that humans tend to anthropomorphize things and make up superstitions. We are prone to making up answers when we don't have any.

On the other hand, there is no real evidence for the existence of any gods.

A true proof proves "what is" not "what is not" although "what is not" can often be deduced based on what is.

Having said that, I know that God does exist. I have had plenty of personal proof in my life that makes it impossible for me to deny God.

The point is here that God wants each of us individually to find Him. While we can point the way, we cannot force others to believe. God has not given us the power to prove His existence to any who do not desire to know for themselves.

All who have a true desire to find God will find Him and they will receive their own personal proof of His existence.

I think I'm starting to believe the 4:00 PM theory.

Anyway, again, how does a Christian know God exists? The Bible was written by men who COULD(I'm not saying that they were) have been lying, and miracles could occur on pure happenstance.

There's alot more proof against the existance of a god than there is for it. Give us proof that your god exists that isn't the bible.

There is no evidence that there is one. It isn't rational or reasonable to believe in things without any evidence to back it up. You would be stuck with hundreds of thousands of gods and everything else that human imagination could come up with.

Not believing in god, is the same as not believing in Odin, Zeus, Ra, Hera, The Great Spirit, Osiris, The Flying Spaghetti Monster and all the others. I would be no less surprised of evidence of Odin was found than I would be if evidence of your god was.

Yeah, like I wanna post a thought out answer to someone who laughs like a crazy man in his posting...

Believing with no proof is more ridiculous....

Atheists just deny the exsistence of God altogether. They just chose not to believe and just deny, and often go with logic and reason. It is Agnostics that don't know one way or the other. They think something is there, but they don't know what.

Well they dont.

That is why we have the statement: Nothing is impossible in democracies ^^

They can always chose to become agnostic and deal with lesser pressure from the surroundings.
