You know, it is very odd that people try to sell me things based on a feeding materialistic desires. They seem somewhat taken back when I tell them that the thing they are trying to sell me holds absolutely no fascination to me. I guess because while having things, especially expensive, luxury items seems nice, I know that those things only last until I die. Other more important things can last an eternity. These eternal things do not cost me money beyond the normal things needed to live.

No, I do not thirst for anything of the world. I have the most important things I need for eternal happiness.

Sure you do. We are still human. We still have a sinfull nature. There are Christians who are addicts, who live lives filled with excess, who covet what others have, who steal... We are all of us a work in progress. We all have things we need to work on, and living in an industrialized nation we are surrounded by choices. And boy is it easy to choose things. If we don't have the money, charge it. If someone disagrees or tells us we are wrong, we get affronted. We say I am with God, I go to church, I pray, I cannot be what they say... We may even say these are the blessings God has given me, I deserve it.

Our only hope is to be constantly vigilant that we don't begin to put ourselves and what we want or what feels good in front of God. We have to really look at ourselves. For me, I have a relationship that has had problems. And here is the thing... I AM RIGHT. I know I am. It is the other person, they have issues. I have righteous anger. So I complain. I nag. I am not always respectful. And honestly it has been going on a long time. I am sick of it. So I prayed. Sincerely, repentantly, God I am tired. I don't want to be angry, but I feel I am right. What do I do? And in my head I heard Do you love him? Do you want him in your life? And my answer was yes. Then forgive him. And truely, the anger left. It is gone. For me this was God through the Holy Spirit, but even if you are a non believer you could understand I am sure if you were to say it was just me thinking it through. Maybe you have done that without the prayer? Here is the thing though, I still catch myself nagging. I'm not mad, it has just become a habit. So I am consciously working on it.

That is all any of us can do. We are sinners. Being saved does not change that. It just gives us the ability to be forgiven and hopefully the desire to do better.

The world is God and God is the world. Everything about everything is God. Nature, nurture, love, hate, positive & negative. Be clear that God is who you want God to be until you find the true meaning of God within your Self.
The true meaning of God (or Life) is to know our own true meaning, our destiny, how we fit into this big puzzle called existence.
If we achieved our full potential, how would we impact upon our environment and what would be our social role?
We would 'thirst' for the solutions to some of these issues and become whole or complete through living those solutions.

No, not really. I only thirst to know Him more closely and for every person in the world to know Him too... and also I thirst for the day of Christ's return in human form to Earth to sort us all out, because we sure do need it!

It is a process for now. I will only truly know God with all His majesty when I see Him in heaven. Then I will neither thirst nor hunger.

The process of not "thirsting for things of this world" is sometimes very difficult, and takes a lot of faith in Jesus Christ. Yet, it is through faith that Christ can get us through anything, including bodily death.

The Devil makes things of the world to look very awesome and tempting. Most people cant help themselves to live of things in the world. But noone will be taking anything with them when they die. Of course there are things I like having and things that I enjoy doing in this world but God is number 1 and the things in this world I could give up for him.

Well, I don't know...
I mean, I wouldn't claim to know god exactly, but we've met up a couple of times. Usually in a bar. The dude drinks bubblegum schnapps. Which, I have to admit, was a bit worrying in a creator-deity the first time I saw it. But if god thirsts for bubblegum schnapps...what chance do the rest of us have?

Nope. He's the almighty and he's sticking to his plan. No one can change it so why ask?

If you thirst for anything you probably have to work for it. God doesn't do miracle unless it is necessary.

If you know God and keep his commandments in your heart you can stave off the 'thirst' of which you speak. Even Jesus our Lord and savior was tested.

real (authentic) knowledge of God brings a more genuine and deeper understanding of oneself and all the Universe and thus one appreciates the role and function of what oneself and one's environment.

this also brings the key factor of ANALYSING one's desires or intentions, and a realisation that since this world and indeed each earthly lifetime is transient, we should seek soulful things.

this doesnt mean one no longer wants worldly things per say, but that one does not want thee things for worldly reasons.
