my dog is affaird of the clippers what is the best way to clip his nails that he wont be affaird

Take him to a groomer and let them do it. I pushed it with mine - now he hates me and won't come to me - and growls at me if I get to close with no one else around.

I use baby clippers. I know there is also a tool that you can use it has a flat round piece of sand paper on it and it goes in a circular fashion. It will file the nails right down, but be carefull not to file them down to far. If that don't work, go to the groomer. Good Luck.

my dog (also a chihuahua) also freaks out everytime. It would take both by husband and I to hold him down and clip. We were all stressed out and the dog even more...so I took him to the vet to clip. They showed me how we should hold him and he did really well. One person should hold him with their right hand over the mid part of the dog (about between the legs) close to you. With the left hand,hold him close to you with your hand underneath his neck and around. Talk to him calmly while someone else cuts nails. For other side reverse. My dog was the calmest I have seen him while getting his nails clipped. Give him a treat afterwards (whether good or bad because it is stressfull for them)

You should start getting him use to the clippers and having his paws touched. You should say what exactly he does when you attempt to clip his nails.

Take it to a groomers (should be about $5 - $10)
or wrap him in a towel to do it, and praise and give treats afterwards

groomer... or give him a medicine (over the counter) called "calm down".. then trim his nails.

take him to taco bell after all that what he wants. then when he is eating clip them... clip them hard.
