Well same thing here and here's what I did and it worked great.
First. Take all bedding, things cat has layed on and clothing and wash it all in HOT water. Then move on to the cat. Bathe the cat with normal shampoo or something that has tea tree in it. This helps kill live fleas. Go to your vet and get CAPSTAR OR REVOLUTION and put it on the back of the cat's neck where it cannot lick. This will kill all live fleas, eggs, larvae. PLEASE DO NOT USE A CHEAP FLEA KILLER. Hartz and Bio-spot, two commonly sold flea removers, are animal killing pesticides with BAD reactions. I had a cat die from using that so I learned the hard way. After that, get a carpet flea spray. Treat carpet and furniture in your house. Whewwww your done. It sounds like alot of work at once but take one day to prepare and one day to treat the cat, house, clothes. If you do this right you will never have a re-ocurring flea problem. Good luck

Advantage or Revolution are the best brands to rid the pets of fleas. Please don't waste your money on things like Hartz because THEY DON'T WORK. I went through the SAME thing as you!! Advantage is a little expensive, but it's cheaper than the vet. Also, you should go to the store and buy Raid foggers for your home. Set one off in every room. It takes minutes to kill the fleas, but you and the pets cannot be home while it is being done. Read the box about closing windows, covering up things... (you may need to leave the home for an hour or more).
As for Advantage, you will need to treat your pets every couple of months to be rid of all fleas and eggs. It's drops that you put on the back of the pet's neck where they can't lick it off.

sprinkle table all over your carpets and let it sit over night. Vaccumm it up pthe next day. It will take a lot of salt so buy a few big containers. The salt dehydrates the fleas. Repeat it if you have to. Also put a flea collar in your vaccumm bag and throw it way outside.
You can also put small saucers of water on he floor near a night light. It will attract and drown the fleas

You need to take the cat to a vet..........drop it off. Get the vet to give a medication called capstar. This kills adult fleas and larvea. Get someone (I recommend a professional) to bomb your house. After they have bombed it, vacuum the house, throw out the bag in the vacuum that you used, then go and pick up your cat. Ask the vet to put "Revolution" on your cat. This new medication not only kills fleas, but it kills worms and earmites. Good Luck.

At your vets office they have a spray call Pheromone spray, you spray it and it keeps stray away. There are several different products for your yard. Try going to a Pet store or asking your local vet what he would recommend. That way it is safe, so when your dogs come out they aren't harmed. Also, frontline is the cheap flea protector, try a different repellent and you should not have to worry.

should have kept the cat and put advantage on it, it would have killed the fleas that jumped on the cat, now you need to get a bug man to come in!

You'll need to Advantage your cat for starters - but anything cloth can hide fleas. (Bedding, clothes, carpet!)
You'll probably need an exterminator or to "bug bomb" the house.
Also, vacuum LOTS it will help control the eggs (but you'll need to dump the bag every time too!)
Best of luck!
