I don't think there is any way to still be close friends. You do not have to hate each other, but once you cross that line, it is very difficult to get it back. If you don't feel absolutely sure you want to be with him, then don't be with him. Give it some time, and the friendship may come back. But if you feel you need to move on, then do just that. It is better for both of you if you don't prolong this.

Well, it honestly sounds like you know the answer. Getting over a breakup is never fun. However, hang out with friends or do your own thing for awhile. If he persists on getting back together, state to him it's not a good idea and explain why. Sometimes the chemistry is only strong enough for great friendships but nothing more =) Good luck!

The reason you guys are having problems is because you don't feel the same way about each other. If you felt the way he does then you wouldn't hesitate to date him again. It's best at this point to save the friendship and let him know that you would rather remain friends.

Look at it this way you should stay with him instead of falling in love with someone else and the same things happens to you all over again.

Moving on and staying friends would be hard, if not impossible. You might have to distance yourself.
