The Ramayana is a pretty traditional Hindu text. It has religious themes and social themes like 'go into the forest and become strong', 'a wife should follow her husband wherever he goes', 'the rightful king will prevail', 'listen to your father', 'duty before everything', 'ksatrya's should fight'. Etc.
