Personally, I use corn oil in my deep fryer. It costs much less than peanut oil, but withstands temps up to about 425 degrees. Like peanut oil, it imparts very little additional flavor to the food.

Peanut oil is the best because it doesn't burn at a high temp when cooking it also gives a nice taste to the food. One word of caution make sure those who will be eating are not allergic to peanuts even the oil can cause bad reactions.

Listed in order of cost (lowest to highest):
1. Canola oil, soybean oil is relatively neutral in flavor.
2. Peanut oil gives a nice flavor to foods.
3. If you're really wanting to try something different... find lard (pork fat) or tallow (beef fat). That's what was popular 25 years ago before people became afraid of frying.

Canola oil is a good one for all types of cooking and frying. I have had success with peanut oil also. Grape seed oil is good for high temperatures, but is rather expensive.

Peanut oil. It has one of the highest smoke points. Once cooled you can strain it back into container and reuse it over and over-unless you fry something like onion or fish or unless you burn your food in it. We use it all the time for frying our deep fried turkeys. chickens and potatoes etc. Hope this helps..

Peanut oil is the healthiest....but the best tasting is good old fashioned Armour lard. You want the best fried chicken or fried fish you've ever had? try the lard.

Peanut oil.
It is better for higher temps, adds flavor enhancement, and is more healthy.
I used to work at a bar/grill years ago and they were using it then before all they hype.
