Be what you want, as long as you are honest with your partners and with yourself and USE PROTECTION.
Even with protection you should get yourself checked.
I am saying this because you are no good to a permanent partner if you are still being pulled this way and that. You have to find yourself first. Unless you are being very superficial with your partners and only care for their sexual side, you will learn things about yourself and the world in sharing experiences with each one of them. You will also be able to better know what you would like in a partner. You will learn about temperments, and what people want and diplomacy.
Be true to yourself. I do not believe in trying to find that one special one. When you are ready and tire of moving from one to the other and when life finds you ready, you will meet the right person and they will probably be different than your preconceived notions that you hold now.
Being a 'manwhore' all your life is probably an illness, and you should seek help if this happens. But, even then, you could find a 'womanwhore' who is suitable for you.

So this is very circumstancial. Do you just want a sex-relationship? Or do you want to find a girl you can love and care about and devote your time and self to? Cause I mean, maybe its fun to date around but you're going to hurt someone if that's not how one of "your girls" feels about it. On the other hand, you could get into a long-term relationship and if/when that ends you both CAN be hurt. However, in my experience, finding someone to love with all of your heart is the best feeling in the world, even if you get hurt. Its worth it. And I'll be doing it until I die...so the second option...

if you are a manwhore then you can run the risk of catching a disease.....
if you have a special someone then you know that you do not run the risk of catching a disease.....

Well, to word your question another way, Do you want to risk getting aids or another STD or do you want to be safe and healthy? Nobody respects or wants to be with someone, male or female, who sleeps around with lots of people.
