There is much evidence that gods are man-made and don't really exist. You just have to look at the history of each religion to find they had a beginning and were based on earlier myths. If you go back far enough, it's just primitive ancestor worship and sun worship. There's also a lot of psychological evidence that shows that humans tend to anthropomorphize things and make up superstitions. We are prone to making up answers when we don't have any.

On the other hand, there is no real evidence for the existence of any gods.

Um... Do you mean "How does an atheist know God doesn't exist? They don't have proof?"

Anyway, how do Christians know God exists, then? They don't have proof either. The only proof they have that I know of is the Bible, and I really question the reliability of the Bible, as it was written by humans, not by God. And miracles do NOT count. Give me some other proof.

Ugh looks like I have to explain the exceedingly obvious to yet another moron.
Look Zippy, if I were to tell you that there is a teapot orbiting the sun between the earth and mars, would you believe me?
No, you'd want proof right? Right.
Same thing with your sky-pixie. The burden of proof is on YOU, not me, to prove it's existence.
After all, you cannot disprove a negative.

There is no evidence that there is one. It isn't rational or reasonable to believe in things without any evidence to back it up. You would be stuck with hundreds of thousands of gods and everything else that human imagination could come up with.

Not believing in god, is the same as not believing in Odin, Zeus, Ra, Hera, The Great Spirit, Osiris, The Flying Spaghetti Monster and all the others. I would be no less surprised of evidence of Odin was found than I would be if evidence of your god was.

We don't know, same as you don't know he does. But we have no evidence so no reason to believe. No proof necessary if you haven't got proof he exists (which you don't). Easy really.

say what? atheists believe god does NOT exist.....

and u cant prove a negatve, they rely on someone to prove he does exist before they believe.

u cant prove invisible pink unicorns dont come out and dance around ur front yard when your sleeping. but u have no reason to believe that until someone proves it...

how do you know that god exists when you don't have justifiable proof? it's called a belief - it's not necessarily a fact

There's no proof, better question: How do Christians know?
