I would say anyone who is racist, sexist, or homophobic does not truly understand thier higher power. Most popular higher powers or popular God's are associated with love and therefore you should not be racist sexist or homophobic if you follow love correct? It is dogmatics and extremists who hijack there faiths that turn into haters.

Well...atheism doesnt include any inbuilt prejudice...because it doesn't tell you to hate or kill anyone based on their religion, gender or sexual orientation. Most religions teach that they are right and everyone else is wrong and will be punished for it (alot of the times by death), Christianity and Judaism teach that women are inferior to men (really...just read the old testament, and since God never changes his mind....).

One needs a higher power to know the truth.

Of course not - upbringing is a big factor - and ignorance... not necessarily religion - many Christians have prejudices as do muslims, jews, atheists etc. No one is exempt due to a religion - though they should be.

No, I think there are a lot of ungodly people who hate. Usually people with a belief in God try to be more caring toward others.

No, you just need to be a human and have a small, closed mind.

Though religion can help these prejudice's along, I don't think that it's a prerequisite.

People can create a belief system to to support whatever crazy idea that want. They can invent a "Higher Power" that will allow them to say and do and believe what ever they want. They can twist and pervert existing beliefs and take them out of context to support whatever sick idea they want.
That doesn't make it right and it doesn't make it truth.

People argue too much over this topic. People are people. That's why I stay away from formal religions. Believe what you wish. Just be a good person.

You don't need a higher power but it certainly seems to help. Especially if that higher power is Christian.
