I always think of it in English, but I am pretty sure that isn't right. I would guess Hebrew, but I don't really know.

Eve did not actually talk to a snake. The story of Adam and Eve is only that, a story, used to show us how cunning the devil can be and what happens when we do not listen to god. the snake symbolizes Satan.

Psst...by the way, snakes can't really talk. The story is a methaphorical construct used to illustrate a fundamental truth about humanity...but...shhh...don't tell the fundies...they still think snakes can really chat it up--they'd be crushed if they ever found out otherwise.
