I have dark brown hair. I've never dyed my hair or highlighted it before. It's been it's natural color for 19 years now. I was thinking of putting some highlights in it though. What color would look best in my hair? blonde colors, light browns...and is there a chance the color wont stay?

I would suggest doing light blonde highlights, oh and p.s. if you do highlights I hope that you use a product that is good on your hair, but dont get the over the counter, because you have a type of brown that is sometimes hard to do blonde on ,oh and if you do blonde highlights go to a hair salon, so that you want look like that you have orange or some multi-colored hairstyle.

highlighting your hair will give you a whole new, wonderful look. a mixture of blonde and brown highlights will look best. your hair stylist will be able to help make the decision. the color should stay in permanetly

DO NOT GET BLONDE
blonde highlights in brown hair are so out
it looks tacky
natural is in but if you think that you need to get highlights dont go too much lighter than your natural shade

Try some medium gold highlights. And yes, all hair color fades, no matter how expensive it was.Stay natural, if any possibility.

unless you want like a real dramatic look which would involve blonde highlights...this is a disaster though...trust me i tried it and my hair has never been the same since...although wat would be nice is 2 shades lighter than your hair color...if you go permanent the color should stay, although if its your first time semi-permanent is less drastic. Ask your local salon about wat colors go with your skin tone and hair color, they always have a general idea.

maybe a golden dark blonde....you should definitely go to a professional for highlights, though....the color will be permanent, because it will have to be bleached.....

go to a stylist and talk to them.... they have materials on hand to help you pick the color you like. they also have books so you can decide what look you like better. If this will be the first time with color, please please please let a professional help you. it will cost you alot more in the end if a professional has to correct a boo boo than it would to just let them take care of it in the first place.
