Or sent out by that date or something like that? I thought there was a law? If so how come it seems that I don't get them until Mid Feb? Any one know the law?

by Jan 31st you have not received your W2, call the employer and ask them if they have been sent. If by Feb 15th you have not received it, call the Internal Revenue Service at 1-800-829-1040 and file a W2 complaint. They wil take a report and send you a form that you can use as a subsitute, you will need your last paycheck stub when you call, along with the name, address and phone# of the employer and what dates you worked for them

They're supposed to be mailed out by Jan 31. You should receive it any day if it was. You should contact your employer first if there is a delay. If you haven't received it by 2/15, you can call the IRS and file a missinng W2 complaint. They will investigate the matter and either get your employer off his duff or arrange for a substitute W2.

My wife just had this problem. We moved and she told the human resources department but they did not make the right changes and her W2 went to our old address in another State. Thankfully we were able to track it down and paid to have it 1 day mailed to our new address !!! What a bad mistake !!!

If they don't have it post marked by 1/31 then you can tell the IRS and they get a fine.

If you haven't gotten it by now, you need to contact the company that is issuing it, and ask about it. If they aren't cooperative, report them to the IRS.
