In the sense that one who has faith might fall for anything? Like those stupid preachers who just bilk money out of rubes under the guise of acquiring "eternal salvation".

Faith in what? Faith in God? Faith in the TV preacher? Your question is not really clear.

People who "fall for anything" are not suffering from a problem with faith. What they are suffering from is a lack of a solid belief system. Or they care just plain gullible.

There is an old saying (and was made into a country song) that says "You have to stand for something, or you'll fall for anything."

People who don't understand what they believe, or why they believe it or who don't have any real solid belief system are the ones who fall for anything.

If the question you are asking is does having faith in God make you suseptible to being easily lead, then I would have to say no.

Having faith in God does not make you an idiot. You can be an idiot all on your own, you don't need God for that. One has nothing to do with the other. People of faith can be stupid, so can atheists.

~~~triz,,,,Step back from The World and look with an Objective Eye at the surface of Earth. When you see all these divisions of countries it is a simple deduction to determine that the type of "Faith" an individual assumes is dictated by their place of birth and the Influence of Culture. From this context, it is surely detrimental to the Benefit of Mankind as it serves only to render one side Superior, and thus leaving the "other" or "Infidel"(non-bleiever) as An Inferior. Result=War,,,, and the retardation of Progress.
Absolutly NOT.
What does it hurt to have faith? I've heard a lot of stories about people who've done great things. How could they have accomplished so much without faith? You see, faith breeds hope, and hope breeds action. If a person has no hope of success (salvation), why try? why follow the 10 commandments? why obey the law? when you remove faith, what is there to live for? absolutely nothing. society today teaches to have faith in nothing but yourself, but you know your own weaknesses, and everybody makes mistakes, so can you trust yourself? if you cant trust yourself, who can you trust? nobody. but if you have faith in an all-powerful, unchanging God who cares about you, you can trust Him all the time. What could it hurt?
Faith no....foolishness...yes. People who are bilked out of money by phony preachers do not give out of faith. They give because they were misled or scammed. God has commanded that we give to spread his word but I think we need to take it to him in prayer before we do it. Faithful people will get an answer.
Detrimental to who? Humans? Gods? Societies?
Faith is the willful act of suspending reason. If you don't think that is detrimental to a human being, when reason is our only means of survival. Ones head is somewhere that the sun does not shine!
Treat faith as a guiding principal and not as a ruling dictate. You'll be OK. Have faith but not blind faith. Use your logic and reasoning. All religions preach love and peace. Preachers decipher it to serve their own interests.
No faith is a good thing if you realize that no one but you can make things right with GOD. If you pay some one to make things right with GOD for you: Well their fooling themselves, the church can not do that, the priest can't do it. It is a one on one thing between you and GOD. People that fall for this bull are trying to take a short cut that just ain't there to be taken.
Not necessarily. Everyone has faith in someone or something. Some have it in science, in personal relationships, and some in religion. It's not good or bad, but something that can be abused. That's the whole premise behind a "con man" or "con artist". Here "con" refers to "confidence" or "faith".
To progress yes, while there have been some religious people who have made great contributions to the world, on a grand scale faith hinders world progress on many issues and in many fields.
