Taverns a/k/a maid rites a/k/a sloppy joes

I make mine different every time depending on my mood. Basically cook the hamburger up chopping it into tiny pieces, add salt, pepper, garlic powder. If you want the sandwiches not saucier just put in a bit of ketchcup, mustard, horseradish, Worcester and a pinch or two of brown sugar. For saucier add more ketchup. Want more tang....more horseradish and mustard or for sweeter add more brown sugar. Mix it all up, simmer and serve on a nice crusty bun.
The important thing is to taste as you go. Sometimes I even add a bit of beer.
These are great with potato chips but you could do a twice baked potato with them. They make great leftovers.

Hi!! O.K. so I am sure that you want this recipe to be fairly easy that way you can spend more time with them when they come over so I would suggest something quick. I really like manwiches (AKA Sloppy Joes) you make them with ground beef ,1 medium chopped onion and a combo of spices that you and your family enjoy(garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, chili pepper flakes, maybe some thyme...) then add a can of already prepared manwich sauce from the store. ( I usually like to make my own but it takes a while, so this should be just fine!! Also be sure toast the buns). Another thing you can do is make cheeseburger pie. This is a recipe, usually I try to recommend things that I have created myself, but this is just sooo good, and easy!! Not to mention you can add things or take things away and it just as good, my only suggestions for this dish would be is to add some onion, spices, and use a good amount of sharp cheddar cheese. This recipe can be found on the Bisquick box, sometimes it's on the back, sometimes it's inside, but look around the box and you will find it, if not you can always look on the website. These meals are not only simple but are fun and easy to eat, that way everyone feels comfortable and you all have plenty of time to spend together. (I would approximate the sloppy joes take about 15 minutes to prepare, and the cheeseburger pie about 30-45, majority of that time is spent baking) Hope this helps, have fun, Good Luck and Happy Feasting!!! -Little Chef

Use the potatoes to make mashed potatoes. Make hamburger patties and dip them in beaten egg and then dip them in crushed cracker crumbs. Fry in skillet with a little oil over medium heat until done. Make gravy using the skillet drippings and serve over meat and potatoes. Makes a wonderful chicken fried steak.

Another choice is to make hamburger patties and put a tsp of soy sauce on them while they fry. In a separate pan, cut up onions and green peppers and saute them in 3 tbs soy sauce until tender. Serve peppers and onions over hamburger patties. We call them Soyburgers. Mashed or fried potatoes on the side.

I make something that I call porcupines. You need A head of cabbage about 2lbs. of hamburger 2 cans of diced tomatoes (or cut up your own) and 1 cup of rice. You cook your tomatoes and cabbage together. While that is cooking you mix your rice and hamburger together. Of course salt to taste. You then make small meatballs with your mixture and drop therm into the cabbage and tomatoes. as they cook the rice sticks out of the meatball, and that is where it gets it's name. To me it is an easy way to make cabbage rolls. My kids love it. I think it is because kids like meatballs. Hope you enjoy this.

beer rocks. brown off a couple of pounds of burger and add 1 head chopped cabbage. Thaw some frozen bread dough a break it into tennis ball size chunks. flatten the dough and place some burger cabbage mixture in the middle and pull the dough up around it to make a "rock" place on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 until nice and brown.
