Thanks for all the feedback. I guess I made it sound like I give them treats all the time. They only get treats for going potty outside & when they do something that I've taught them. I think you're right about them being bored. I feed them Nutro large breed puppy at the same times everyday. I do add chicken sometimes. I will try the microwave idea. Also, does anyone know if Biljack is good for dogs?

When I first read your question it sounds like you are trying to get your lab to eat poop. lol

You can tell the level of quality of dog food by the amount of ash, byproduct and preservatives in it (those are bad), you want more protiens, less grains as well. The neutro that you are feeding your puppy is a good healthy choice. Another good food is Royal Canin. Biljack is not the best quality, and doesn't provide the proper protien levels. Try not to choose a dog food that you can find at Walmart or the grocery store (they tend to be crap)

Bil*Jac is not a good food.

The majority of commercial grade dog foods contain lots of fillers such as corn and wheat (which many dogs are allergic to); cheap byproducts (beef meal, chicken byproduct, etc.) that are not fit for human consumption and often include things like beaks, feathers, intestines, etc.; and chemicals such as food coloring to make the foods look more "appealing" to the humans feeding them - some of those are known to cause cancer in dogs!

My grocery store and our local Wal Mart does not sell any foods that I would feed a dog in good conscience. PetsMart is also very limited in their selection and the only two brands there that I would purchase are Royal Canin and Blue Buffalo, which are some of the higher quality commercial foods.

For a really good diet you may want to look toward products that are made from human-grade, USDA approved ingredients and don't contain byproducts or fillers. Try California Naturals, Innova, Wellness, or TimberWolf Organics, for example. You should be able to get them at holistic pet stores or over the Internet.

Read your ingredients. As long as the dog food does not contain corn, beef, wheat, fillers and by products. As those things are hard for dogs to digest.

A really good food is Natures Recipe. As it is all natural and completely healthy. It cuts down on shedding, bad breath and the amount of stool they produce. It leads to a long life with a healthy body and shinny coat.

Also stay away from people food and rawhide bones as neither of these things are healthy for your dogs.

If your dogs become picky with their food. Try mixing some canola oil and garlic powder on their food. For some reason dogs love the mix and it is healthy for them as well.

BilJac is crap in my opinion. Look for a kibble that has at least 3 meat protiens listed in the first 6 or 7 ingredients and no grains, preservatives,by products, sugars (include molasses) or fillers.
