Does the following motto/philosophy/attitiude seem fair and balanced in a relationship ?

" I am not in this world to live up to your expectations and you are not in the world to live up to mine. But if it happens, then it is beautiful."

I think it's a good philosophy. I don't expect anyone to change for me and I don't plan on changing who I am, so if you find that someone that is what you want and they find the same in you, then yes it is beautiful. I really like that.

The first part makes sense, but overall it still feels to pressured to me. I keep thinking "okay, so what if it doesn't happen? It's not beautiful?"
