Once you adopt a child they are yours. You get no money form the government.

Adopted children do not get any checks from the government. The family who adopts them takes on the financial responsibility themselves. If she is a foster parent (which is totally different) she will receive a check from the state and this is to cover all expenses for the child... food, clothes, shoes, heat, lights, etc. Sounds like its a foster child not an adoption. Some people do this all the time, they just want the money not to raise a child.

you might get the child tax credit like most parents do, you can spend how ever you want to, its simply a reward for working and raising a family, they dont just give you money though.they only do that when you are a foster parent
