I filed my taxes by TurboTax as I have the past 5 years. My taxes were accepted and I got the email from the bank who handles the IRS direct deposits giving me my date of refund. The first date the refund did not arrive but that has been the case the last couple of years. The second refund date showed not refund as well. I contacted the Wheres my refund page of the IRS and called the number that said there has been a delay in processing your return. They say there is not indications other than they needed more time to process my return and if I don't recieve a letter or refund in four weeks to call back. It has been over two weeks since the second refund date and nothing. I just won't to know what is going on, Has anyone had a situation like this? I mean if they are auditing me fine but just say that already ya know.
But they accepted and had already schedualed my return so I have not clue and can't get answers from them.
Any help is appreciated

Not audited, but probably reviewed. There seem to be a number of reports this year of refunds held up, and people who have talked to the IRS say it's a two to four week delay, for people who have claimed certain tax benefits, while the IRS (or their computers) review the returns. EIC seems to be a primary cause of the delay.

There may have been a math error, an issue with a social security number, or a review of the Earned Income Credit.
If you do not have the refund after the 4 weeks the IRS stated call them to see if there is any additional information that you can provide them, or they to you

Just wait it out first before moving on it. You have a random chance of 1 out of 100 for an audit. The paperwork sometimes needs to catch up.

If you were being audited you should have recieved a letter in the mail. Normally you are audited after the fact..year so later

If they choose to audit you, they WILL contact you directly, normally by mail.

There could be any number of reasons for the delay in processing your return.

please calm down! It sounds like there is a delay - remember it's the government.

Believe me, you would know you are being audited. It would come in a letter, probably two years after the return is filed.
