You should be able to register the birth of the litter, then you will get papers for the individual owners to register and name their pets on their own--at their own expense.

I would prefer the option of registering my own pet. I enjoyed naming our dogs, and if they are going to have the dog neutered and keep it as a non-competitive pet, there is really no need to register the animal at all.

Puppies names should be decided by the new owners. You only have to register the litter how many males and females. When you receive your packet there is a space for the owner to fill in the name. That particular transfer doesn't cost you anything. Each puppy will have an individual registration slip for you to give the new owner. It also helps in selling if you get the puppies vet checked, and administer the first set of shots. Include a health garauntee that states if the puppy is brought to the vet within 72 hours and is found in less than good health you will return all money and accept pup back. This gives the new owner peace of mind and helps to show you are a reputable breeder and care about the breed, not just the money

I would register them, this way you can charge that bit more for the pups, also some people won't even look at pups unless they are KC reg.
I have 2 pups both are reg with KC and we haven't changed over the ownership. Also the breeder didn't register them until she knew what we wanted to call them so they are reg under their real names, so you could advertise the fact that all pups will be KC reg.
Hope this is a help.

I got a kc reg pup and it only costs about £10 to change reg owner of pups. I would personally prefer to buy a registered pup as you as the breeder are the one with experience and i as the buyer may not be?? Also i would be wary if i phoned up and the breeder said they had not registered pups and were leaving it for buyers to do, not that you are but may sound a bit dodgy??

do you AKC registered? Some people care and some don't. AS a breeder or former breeder my dogs had to AKC registerable. But as an owner papers don't matter and if people new the truth about AKC papers and that they didn't allways belong to the pups parents that they were claiming they wouldn't care either. AKC has no way of know that the pup you have came from the male or female that that breeder is claiming it did. I have another breeder that I work with that sold a pup with paper to another breeder and she sent the pup back but refused to send back the papers. She should have reported it to AKC but she never did and those papers will be used on another dog. It is part of the game.

I paid £150 for my designer hybrid wee-chon (half westie/half bischon) unregistered and he would cost £300 and above for a registered soits up to you. If you register the pups you can make more money but as I only pwn dogs for pleasure and not breeding it doesn't bother me if they are reg or not. Depends on what kind of people you are trying to sell your pups to. Most families with young children that just want a pet won't mind if they are reg or not. Hope this helps a little, Good Luck

So why would you NOT register them? The new owners will have 6 weeks free insurance on their pups, if nothing else. You don't have name each pup, the KC will do that for you, but yes, you do have to pay £12.00 for each pup - a fraction of the asking price per puppy. The owners only have to pay £12.00 to change the ownership to their name. Registering your puppies shows a serious intention on your part to act responsibly. I would definately not buy a puppy whose breeder didn't register it for no apparent reason. The owners CANNOT register the puppies, only the owner of the b1tch can do that. If you later wanted to register the puppies it would £60.00. EACH.
Don't be so penny pinching. Why did you breed the litter in the first place? Was it just to make money?

Hi, You can always get the pups dog lovers registered as its cheaper but stilll registers the pups as a pedigree. I think you still have to name the pups though, I bought a Bichon 8 months ago and still havnt changed the ownership name as the breeder made up his own contract so he could not claim back the pups. I f the buyers are only wanting the pups as pets i dont think they will be too bothered about the ownership name. hope this helps
