If it's jsut cotton then why not buy a regular cotton comforter? Does it feel the same? The reason i'm asking is because i found the shade of blue i'm looking for in a comforter but it's alternative. But i was looking for down... any help would be appreciated.

There are synthetic alternatives that are just as warm as down and are machine washable. I grew up with a down comforter and now I use the synthetic alternative on all my beds. I like to be able to wash and dry my comforters and not have to pay the expensive dry cleaning bill. The alternatives are not usually cotton.

Down alternative is a synthetic fiber, not cotton. It is supposed to compare very closely as far as feel and comfort. The positive side is for those who have allergies to the feathers. There is also no poking from the feathers (depending on the down compared to, some poke). I think you will enjoy the down alternative as much as the down, especially if it is the color you want!

True down would be very expensive, so the alternative was created. It would be a hard task to search. I would try an internet search engine.

It's probably a polyester or acrylic filler and is easier to maintain and cheaper to buy.The weight will be close to down and is as warm as the down too.
