I am having a chocolate/coffee themed wedding in the fall ('08). I have looked online, but since my idea is still a new one there isn't much out there. I have the basic ideas (coffee beans, useing creams, serving coffee & chocolate favours, etc.) So I dont want any simple ideas - but if someone has unique & interesting ideas I could use... :O)
I need ideas for kinds of flowers that go well (silk flowers). I want cream coloured accents too. My dress is off white & so are the flower girls'.
ONLY serious answers please.
Thank you.

i saw a few cute centrepieces that used coffee beans.
obviously some delicious desserts would be in order.
any white flowers would work well (since white is usually off-white in flowers) i think. tied with a chocolate coloured ribbon!

mmm no more ideas but can i come to your wedding? this all sounds delicious!

Sorry to tell you this, but it isn't new at all. Chocolate and coffee themes are all over the place. Do you want a favor that is right up your alley? Check www.excepevents.com and go to the "What's New" page. You'll see the a coffee cup candle favor that comes with a little tag that says "The Perfect Blend", and it's only $1.25 plus shipping. You can do an ivory or sand colored tablecloth with a chocolate brown overlay for your cake table and spread coffee beans all over the top of the table as a wonderful textured backdrop for your cake--saw it done at a wedding event expo in L.A. in January. Your bridesmaids can wear cream-colored dresses and have chocolate sashes around their waists with 2 long streamers down the back. Your flowers should be cream colored with a lot of greenery and white berries for texture. Your wedding cake could have a mocha ganache filling and the tiers could have a chocolate iced bottom tier, a coffee-flavored icing on the middle tier and a vanilla flavored icing on top tier. There's all kinds of stuff you can do. Use your imagination.

When you're thinking flowers and linens, keep a general color theme in mind. I would say that in addition to the browns, tans, creams that we normally associate with chocolate & coffee, throw in some oranges. Tiger lillies might be lovely! (Just make sure to have the pods removes so you don't have pollen everywhere!)

Have a coffee cart, obviously, but find someone who isn't a "Starbucks knockoff" - serve your guest REAL machiatos, lattes, etc. And if you have chocolates out, get white and dark chocolate, too. (And something for people who don't like chocolate - yes, they do exist!)

Coffee beans in votive holders with tealights are very pretty. You can even use the "fishbowl" candle holders they sell at craft places for about $1 each and do this for a lovely effect. (Best of all, you can use cheap coffee beans!)

If you have the money, I love this idea: for place holders and guest favors, buy a TON of demi cups and saucers (the little espresso ones), maybe paint them a bit if they are all white (or get a crafty friend to do so as a gift to you) and lean the placecards up against them.

On the chocolate side of things, see if you can't come up with a dish or entree that is savory and yet features chocolate. Mole is the only thing that immediately comes to mind, but I don't cook much, so I'm sure there's a lot more that can be done.

You've definitely got to have a fondue fountain. What about personalizing some M&M's. You can have names & date on them in your wedding colors. Check out www.mymms.com
During Valentine's (08) buy up chocolate hearts in various sizes and place them in the freezer. About 1-2 weeks before you wedding thaw them at room temp. Place chocolate hearts around as decor. or edible centerpieces. I have been planning a wedding and have see edible centerpieces being used. That would be unique. You could have mini chocolate cups and a silver coffe pot on each table or Have a chocolate foundue fountain be the centerpiece of each table for quest to munch on during the reception. You could have a variety of fruits, cookies, pretzels, etc for the foundue. Have a fresh bean grider for coffee. Shop around for coffee decor, pretty common for kitchen decor then you could use in your home after wedding. What about having coffee cups with paint and such and guest can design their own coffee mug for their favor, just an idea. Give coffee shop giftcards for $5 as favors.
Hope this helps a little, if not may it inspire new ideas. Good luck

1. For a place setting/favor in one, you could have your guests' first name done on a biscotti in chocolate icing, or for just a favor use the bride & groom's initials. You could probably do this easily with a cake decorating tool and a friend who can do calligraphy.

2. For a cool centerpiece, use cream colored roses with one of those brown corrugated java jackets with the little coffee cups imprinted on it as a base. This would work best with fake flowers and one of those green foam blocks hidden inside. You would also need a way to weigh it down. You could also put the flowers in a clear vase and use coffee beans to fill the bottom of the vase instead of stones.

For flowers, try Chocolate Cosmos, "Gingerbread Man" Irises, "Hot Chocolate" Daylilies, or "Silk Rose" Morning Glories.

You could also have a tiramisu wedding cake made, with mascarpone filling, chocolate-dipped lady fingers around the edge, tops dusted w/cocoa and drizzled with a chocolate/espresso icing.

I work in Banquets At The Ritz Carlton San Juan for 9 years. I think u should try chocolate flowers for the brides maids and chocolate covered fruit basquets for center pieces. Is yummy and I never seen it done before. A chocolate fountain with marshmellows screwers, and strawberries.Make a buffet with all this things and a coffee station.Imagine flowers ,fruits a chocolate fountain, goodies and coffee all together and well decorated.

recently at a wedding that had several 'bars'
the obvious liquor bar
a jelly bean bar for the younger crowd [small paper bowls were supplied so the guests could take a selection back to their tables].
dessert bar featuring goodies for the youngster in all of us.
chocolate fountain bar.
the only thing they didn't think of was having a hostess/host for each bar/station. just someone to assist guests if they need it and to curb the guests from filling their pockets with jelly beans!

so.....................why not have a chocolate 'bar'? with a hostess attending it. small fruit nappies for the guests to collect their chocolates in. then chocolate. all types of chocolates........the guests can pick up their fruit nappie and then select an assortment of chocolates to take back to their table. of course you could add the decadent chocolate fountain with a selection of fruits, cookies, cake for dipping.
also i think someone else has already suggested it, a coffee 'bar', with several really good quality coffees, and a hot chocolate as well as a couple of teas. [and a few liquers to add to their coffees perhaps?] and real cups. . real cups, mugs, whatever, just not styrofoam
dress up the 'bars' with bright tablecloths, orange, yellow, autumn colors. have a host/hostess at each bar to help guests make their selection, [and truthfully if someone isn't watching guests tend to go hogwild and take far more than they would if there is a hostess.]

flowers: you are so lucky to be marrying in the autumn when natures colors are at their very best. vibrant oranges, yellows and reds.....if you use these colors in your bouquets and centrepieces then your table linens, place cards, etc. can be a beautiful heavy cream color. your bouquets could be daisies, mums, tiger liles, any number of flowers and your centrepieces could use the same colors in candles, with the candles sitting in beds of colored stones or on a mirror.
i hope your wedding day is all you want it to be.
good luck

since it is a fall wedding you can use black & brown as acsent colors, they will set off the chocolate and coffee, and they will go with your off white dresses.
I also suggest a chocolate bar with an assortment of miscelanious chocolates with small boxes (think chinese takeout minis with you names and dates printed on them) so that your guests can make their own favors.

I also really like the chocolate fountain idea, it is a little overdone, but there is a reason for that... it is tasty & fun (and also a good place to mingle & meet)

Good luck with your wedding and your life together I hope it stays sweet

Some More Ideas:

Mini coffe mugs. You could get these mini coffee mugs and then fill them with your favorite chocolate. That's tying in both themes and something that isn't usually done to death. Here is a site that sells mini wedding mugs:

I am sure you could get others but I thought these were cute. I think it's $4.99 for a set of 10.:)
