Examples: If a car dealer doesn't sell all the cars from 2006 and have to stock 2007 model cars, what do they do with all the 2006 cars? Do these cars from the previous year get to ship back to the car makers?

Nope, they have a few choices. Usually what will happen is large incentives to move the old product. When that doesn't work they take the last of the cars and do a bulk sale to the rental agencies. But understand that if they are sitting on the dealers lot, they are out of the manufacturers inventory, they are sold as far as the Plant is concerned. When I say bulk sale to the rental companies I am talking about maybe 100 cars more like 50 cars, not thousands of cars. The manufacturer is pretty good about watching the number of cars they produce.

If the car does not sell the manufacture allows a discount to be giving on the car to help sell it. In this way the dealer can unload it on to a customer. If this does not work the car may go to auction, or another dealer that has a buyer for it. The only way a car manufacture will let cars be shipped back is if their on consignment bases. and these will be sold off by another dealer or auction.

No, they just lower the price to sell them. That car represents money that the dealer has tied up in inventory. If it doesn't sell, he loses the use of that money. The car depreciates as it sets on a showroom floor taking up space that a new model could occupy. The solution is to knock off a thousand or two and get it out of the way.

hey, just have the hood up watching the engine from inside the car, when you put the car in gear with foot on brake, watch for the engine to shift - if it does the engine mounts are worn out (sometimes the engine will shift or jerk enough for a belt to rub against something)
