Typically I enjoy the format. Yet, so many want to criticize our Christian faith. Thats the thing...it's faith. I don't believe in Jesus, I know Jesus in a real and personal way. Until you step out on faith you won't. Ask your questions, but be open to the responses. I defy you to disprove anything, your choice not to believe is actually based less on fact than on your own intellegence (or the lack there of in some cases.) I can't prove God to you, so it is a matter of faith. I challenge you to seek the answers without agenda and with an open mind.

Christianity in itself does not frighten me.. its effects on christians is another issue.
I don't bash anyone for their faith.. what I absolutely will not tolerate is those christians who bash others WITH their faith.

I'm glad that you know Jesus in a real and personal way.. that's wonderful for you.

You are incorrect in your assumption that I choose not to believe based less on fact than on my own intelligence. My choice not to believe came from years of believing and then searching for facts not in evidence.. such as his entire existence on earth. While you are correct in your statement that you cannot prove God to me, you cannot prove that Jesus ever existed, either.

I challenge you to actually research before you bash others for educating themselves and choosing not to believe in the Jesus myth, and not to believe in a collection of books that is so filled with historical, scientific and medicinal errors that it can't possibly be taken seriously.

i was a christian up until the past few months(and yes, i mean a legitimate christian...i believed, i prayed, i read my bible, it was REAL for me) and i may come back someday...but not until i can reconcile a few things. christianity does not SCARE anybody...unless youre talking about catholics, mormons, or jehovahs witnesses...they all scare me :)
there are just too many ridiculous notions. i can believe virgin birth....if there is a god who wanted it that way then, of course....
i DO have a problem with the amount of hypocracy and hatred within the church(on a world level). there is too much interpretation and not enough fact. too many people on tv saying "well, he BELONGS in hell" or "your going to hell and im glad of it"....how can anyone wish an eternity of suffering and pain on someone? i dont know. and as far as showing people that you're different and making them wonder why....the only people i've ever met and wondered why they were so happy and peaceful and kind were buddhist.

You know, I think it's okay to question God and life and the afterlife. What isn't okay is bashing people for their beliefs. I don't want to hurt non-believers, I want to HELP them. I sometimes come here and feel like it's a huge waste of my time. Athiests don't ask questions hoping for a real response or answer from a believer. They typically want to hear a few YEAH, way to go, you're right...Christians are idiots. Grow up, I say! It's sad how putting others down somehow makes them feel superior.

Why Christianity?

Not even a little bit.

Why not? - but I only bash the ones who are smug and patronising about it; and the ones who are down-right evil in the way they abuse the message. I'd put you in the first category - but am too tired tonight to really care.

The Bible is a horrible moral guide. God is described as the worst evil tyrant ever. Christianity is used to justify a million things Christ would detest. If Christians acted like Christ, or even like he instructed, there would be no problem. But they don't.

Because I disagree with it's core teachings, it feels alien to my very soul, and I am very happy with my Heathen beliefs.

Ok, this is it.

Who among us is going to start compiling the Atheist/Agnostic FAQ? Huh? So we can start cutting and pasting our answers to this drivel.

I don't bash (usually), but I do question... does that frighten you? I hope not... this can be a very fun and interesting forum when people put their fear away.

what frightens people is that certain christians want to control everyone else and devalue those who don't believe as they do
