God is supernatural.
Supernatural means:
of, pertaining to, or being above or beyond what is natural; unexplainable by natural law or phenomena; abnormal.
Therefore, you can't explain God's existence, and it thus impossible to prove God does not exist.
Then faith comes in.
Faith means:
-Christian Theology: the trust in God and in His promises as made through Christ and the Scriptures by which humans are justified or saved.
-belief that is not based on proof: "He had faith that the hypothesis would be substantiated by fact."
So, is it really logical to begin with an assumption "God does not exist" when that assumption defies logical concepts in the first place.
This is a nuetral question. I'm not trying to prove God exists, I'm just wondering why people boldy can say he does not.

Yes...I start with the premise that there is the Natural World (that which we can see, feel sense, etc) and there is the Supernatural World (all that which is outside the Natural World). The hard part for me comes when I try to decide if the two overlap.
Is it logical to start w/ the assumption that God does not exist? Yes, because to do the opposite, say that God does exist, can't be proven. It is a real dilemma...let me know when you figure it out.....I think I will spend the rest of my life living that question and not having a solid scientific answer.

Atheists don't claim that God doesn't exist, they simply say that there isn't sufficient evidence to warrant the claim that He does exist. That's the mistake most people make. Theists have the same problem, according to you, because they fervently believe that God does exist, a claim that cannot be proven. Either way your stuck.

The supernatural concept is generally identified with religion or other unscientific belief systems. Science cannot approach the supernatural; see scientific method.
According to 'Aristotle's Law of Identity' - Any entity without an identity cannot exist because it would be nothing. To exist is to exist as something, and that means to exist with a particular identity.
It is therefore important to identify such claims as untestable, and therefore nonscientific, because such claims are worthless to the advancement of knowledge.

I tend to believe in God in terms of Prime Mover. I feel that we are parts of the Universe same as planets, stars, dust etc.. The natural laws of balance and attraction etc work for me. But I also believe there is some kind of energy that moves us same as all particles in the Universe follow prescribed paths.
Guess most peeps will see what's wrong with this thinkin but it's what I workin with right now.

My question to you is, Why would anyone live their life for something that they don't know exists? It's taking a blind shot at something that you'll NEVER know is there until you're dead. And by then, it'll be a waste if you've spent your whole life living in a "holy" manner.
If God(s) does exist, and he wants to send me to hell for spending my time on Earth wisely, then that's fine by me.

I have to agree with my colleuge above, leprchauns and pixies. Lochness monster and things that go bump in the night.
Can people say for sure that God does not exist, I guess not. I can't say the Loch ness monster doesn't exist, since its supernatural and it might, apparently some believe it.

Doug, your argument itself is illogical because the presupposition that a being exists and has characteristics that make it unknowable is UNFOUNDED.
Everything that follows that assumption (the existence of god) is meaningless.
It IS logical to assume the nonexistence of any unproven concept.
Can you prove that a pink elephant does not live on Mars? Would it be illogical to assume that elephants do not live on Mars until evidence is presented?
If I now say that said elephant is invisible to human measurement, does that all of a sudden make the possibility of the existence of a pink elephant any more real?

Yes, and that's why I decided there is no God. Natural to me can otherwise be defined as true. If it's supernatural, it's by definition false.

Well that is there opinion. As for me I believe that God doesn't exist but, many gods exist. I also belive that many godess exist and that they all equal up to The All. You believe that one god exists. And atheists believe in no gods. We all have our opinion. You cannot say someone elses opinion is wrong. I fully respect that you believe in one god. I am able to have my beliefs and respect every one elses. Sami :)

But you have to understand that same reason you can't prove that God doesn't exist is same reason that you can't prove that he does.
if God is or isn't isn't something that we can logically know...just something we can illogically believe.
