I want a cat, but I want it fast. I heard that it takes several weeks to get a cat from a shelter. Thats too long for me to wait. I want to have a nice furry companion to play with as soon as possible. I am fully prepared to take care of it, and give it the best care possible. I love pets, so I am very excited about getting one.

Don't get a cat from the pet store! They have all kinds of diseases from living in there! Either look in the paper for a breeder (They're usually free). (That's where we got ours) Or find a shelter that has a cat. Don't get any from Angels for Animals, find a shelter that looks like they keep the cat in a clean surrounding, check if it has fleas, and check it's ears, before you get it!

Well I know somewhere at the animal shelter in San Jose California near a cemetry if you bring a elder.. like "old person" I don't like to say that so I said elder.. then you get a cat for free or something or it was like 25 cents.. I think its was free

Check your local paper. Free cats in there all the time. Or go to the pet store that sells cat's and dog's.

You can buy one from a pet store! Or look in the paper and find kittens!! Adoption is a better way to go though because you are giving an unwanted animal a home

Don't bother with the pet store....you can get your kitty at your local city animal shelter, it takes like 10 mins and you have a new kitty! If you go through a rescue group it will take a while, like a few weeks. Go get one at shelter though, you won't regret it....it's like 10 bucks or so! :)

My parents got their kitties from a humane society, and they waived the waiting period, so they took them home the same day. Although some places will make you wait, and you will get charged money, usually to pay for medicine and spay/neuter costs.

I got my kitty from a friend whose roommate's cat had kittens, I didn't have to pay for him, so that was an added bonus.

i have adopted several pets from the humane society and at the most it took 2 hours. i think it's the best way to obtain a pet, they are in need of homes.

it doesn't take several wks from a shelter , the longest u may have to wait is 5 days because they have to make sure the owner doesnt claim them. then u wait a day because they have to be fixed before they let u have them.

I have adopted a few cats from rescue centers and it only took a few minutes. You just fill a sheet out with your info and a few pet care questions.
