Christianity is a synthesis of ideas from earlier belief systems. Paul brought a lot of Platonism into Christianity, such as the concept of the afterlife and the soul, not really much of a Judaic idea but a Greek idea, thereby making the new religion more Greek and more acceptable to Gentiles and the world of educated people outside Judea.
.
The Essenes fed Zoroastrian ideas into Christianity, such as the extremes of good and evil, the light of the world and the devil. The cult of Cybele and Attis of Phrygia gave Christianity the idea of a savior and redeemer who was born on December 25, and crucified and resurrected at Easter. This religion in turn was derived from the ancient Egyptian belief in Isis and Osiris. Osiris was both god and man; he was killed and was resurrected then remembered by a meal of bread and wine.

Jesus is just the latest representation of the figure of Osiris, the mediator between God and man. The worship of such a figure has a history dating back many thousands of years into pre-hisotory. America's silly fundies are so dumb that they imagine their beliefs are brand new. The only way you can continue to be a fundie is to keep yourself in ignorance of historical facts. But what the heck, the fundies are able to maintain themselves in ignorance about evolution, so I suppose they can mangage anything that requires them to be blind to reality.

All religions have roots in older religions. You can also turn that around: each religion is a new, changed form of an older religion.

I don't quite get your question.

Islam is rooted in the Arabic religions of the Middle East, Judaism and Christianity. Judaism is rooted in the religions of the Middle East (catch all term, obviously). Hinduism is rooted in the religions of India and Central Asia. Buddhism is rooted in Hinduism (to the extent that can be called Hinduism back in Buddha's time). Zen Buddhism is rooted in Buddhism, Mahayana Buddhism and Taoism. The Bahai (a very new religion) is rooted in Islam (Sunni and Shia).

Each of those can be said to be adaptations to new social developments and reactions to what was established. Buddhism for instance is seen as anti-brahmanism. That is: it is basically a reaction to the caste-system and the power the Brahmans held.

If taken actually, Buddhism is rather the least because of the fact it claims that textile is merely a distraction to grow to be triumph over. Christianity is up there with it claiming that each and everything could be sacrificed for God in this life so as that he can advantages richly interior the subsequent. Hinduism places tangible fee on all residing issues and is subsequently extra materialistic than Buddhism... i don't be attentive to it properly adequate to evaluate it to the others. i do no longer rather be attentive to adequate approximately Islam to rank it the two. i be attentive to that Judaism considers wealth a blessing and places fee in specific artifacts so i might say it rather is extra materialistic than the others.... although, I rank because of the fact the least un-materialistic. Taken at what's surely mentioned, and not how the religion is utilized, I even have yet to work out a faith which could extremely be defined as materialistic... till you count extensive form the Cult of Self as a faith... Edit: The wealthiest areas of the worldwide are Islamic... yet that has each and everything to do with geography and not unavoidably something to do with materialism... the two Kuwait and Emirates have larger consistent with capita earnings than america, and that i think of that different international locations do to... I merely don't be attentive to them off of the right of my head...

Some of the Buddhist philosophy has roots in Hindu philosophy, yes. The Buddha took things quite a few steps beyond.
