Volkswagen had a promotion where if you bought 1 of 4 volkswagen cars over a 2 month period you would get a free guitar. The current guitar worth is aoubt 200 dollars and i bought it for 180. Do you think it is worth keeping in tis original box adn not opening it until i can sell it for more? or will that value stay the same. thanks

It will probably be worth more if kept with the original car it came with, but not for 20 or more years. And if you don't have the storage, it's not really worth it. VW collectables are really only bought by VW enthusiasts. The truly valuable items are the rare cars, and even those are not breaking any auto sales records.

And the next time you go to Wal-fart, look at the wall opposite the end of the checkout lanes as they usually have a rack with "beginner intruments" that are all First Act.

In my opinion, I dont think the guitar will go up in value by much.
I bought a 2007 Volkswagen New Beetle Convertible and recieved the guitar just a couple days ago....I'm going to keep it in the original box and all because I have NO clue how to play the guitar!

And to Vince l .... The guitar has the cars VIN number engraved in silver on the back right behind the top (where you turn the knobs for the wires)

The guitar is not worth $200, or $180, or even $80.

First Act is sold at WalMart for $69.97, sometimes even less. They really are not great guitars.

That being said, you may be able to get some VW freak to buy it from you as a collectors item in 20 years or so.

From what I've heard, First Act guitars get very little respect among real music people (mostly because they do a lot of business selling kid's guitars).
