my landlord has been fixing a leak at the house, well actually the plumber has, but she has been there every step of the way, the problem is she's a basketcase and always makes my girlfriend upset to where she is in tears. can i make her leave the house? i have my own way of handling it but it would involve the police and my girlfriend doesn't want me saying anything to her. any suggestions?

Yes, I would think so. Just because she owns the house, doesn't give her the right to treat people like dirt. You are paying the rent, so yes, ask her to leave if she starts trying your gf badly. I would suggest finding a new place to live.

yes, you should be able to have her leave the house. just because she own it does not mean she has the right to just say whatever or treat whoever the way she wants too. you are right about calling the police. that is what i would do and if it still persisted then i would press harrassment charges against her. your girlfriend is just worried that she will try to get back at you by trying to find a way to evict you but no landlord has the right to do this to anyone at anytime. on top of this, i would call a lawyer just to see what your legal rights are in this situation. you may be able to do more about this than you realize. hope this helps. good luck.

There is a renter's handbook that will be able to tell you your rights. City Hall may have it. You may be able to call and speak with someone. Try that first, the nut may not know she can't do some of the things she does. I can not think of a reason why she needs to be in the house while the work is being done if someone is home.

You could talk to your landlord, letting him know you want him to treat your girlfriend with respect, if he continues, you could call the owner. There's no need for the landlord to be there anyway, your girlfriend is there with the plumber, tell her that, and get out.

I would ask her to not talk to your girlfriend so rudely and if she continues to talk to her like that, ask her to leave. Your paying the rent, so you do have rights.
