Border patrol agents patrol by themselves and in very small numbers over large rural areas. There are numerous criminals coming across the border, including the human trash who get paid to traffic people across. They should have the means to protect themselves at all times. Remember sneaking across the border is illegal and those who are caught frequently do desperate things to try to escape, including overpowering or attacking the border patrol agents.

To the north of The Wall lies San Diego, California -- the sixth largest city in the United States. To the south of The Wall lies Tijuana, Baja California -- the third largest city in Mexico. Because of this collision of First World and Third World populations the United States has built this barrier to slow the inexorable northward attack on America -- The Wall.
Along The Wall itself -- in what the Mexicans call "La tierra de nadie" or "no man's land" -- and within sight of San Diego's skyline and civilization, the crime is wanton and unchecked.
And the violence occurs night, after night, after night. There are constant shoot-outs along the border between the US Border Patrol and Mexicans. The rules of engagement require that the Mexican shoot first -- and several times -- before the US agent can respond. In one recent engagement two Border Patrol agents expended more than 60 rounds in a fire-fight with Mexicans. In another, an agent was shot twice while he sat in his car. These murder attempts on Border Patrol Agents occur so frequently at one spot along the border that an armored car has been permanently parked as a "bullet catcher."
Because of the "feel good" policies of California's senators Boxer and Feinstein, all the Border Patrol can do is place this armored car between their Agents and The Wall to try and save them from hails of rifle fire.
Now who is trigger happy? disarm the agents? might as well tie their hands behind their backs while they are at it.

No way. They should be armed. They aren't only protecting the border, but themselves and the US.
I was disappointed when I heard on the news this morning about a border patrolmen in Texas facing 10 years in prison for doing his job. He has a wife and a new baby too, which the local Church is helping them make ends meet while he's being unfairly jailed.
As far as I understood it, he was doing like any police officer would do to a running suspect - shooting the tires out of a moving vehicle. He's border patrol and the "victims" were illegal aliens. Therefore, I think he was doing his job. What are border patrol supposed to do, shake their hands as they cross over and offer them a Starbucks croissant? As far as I'm concerned, they have no American rights anyway.

NO, They just want to make it easier for Mexicans to cross the border. Does anyone actually expect these people to patrol hundreds of miles of border, in desolate rural areas, with no means of defense against Illegals crossing the border(who usually cross in groups),Americans who get paid to traffic people across the border, and American criminals trying to escape across the border. Border patrol is law enforcement. Would you want the police to be unarmed?

That sounds very stupid and I am pro-illegal. Being pro-illegal does not mean I am pro-Mexico or that I condone hard core criminals. You need to stop making stuff up.
In reference to the drug smuggler that was allowed by stupid prosecutors to send Ramos and Compean to prison, he should have been killed. If I had worked as a border patrol agent instead of a police officer,I would have killed him.Crap like that does not deserve to live.

Anyone sneaking into this country should be shot. Why do people protect law breakers and attack the law enforcers. If I could I would mine the border and shoot on sight anyone that I caught trying to sneak into this country. A month or so of stacking bodies on the border and letting them there might stop the influx of lawbreakers. What gives illegals the right to break our laws?? Mexicans shoot those that try and enter Mexico illegally and sometimes they rape and abuse them before killing them. The goodie two shoes of this country need to wise up.

That's a liberal thinking for ya, disarm the good, and make them venerable and let the criminal get away with everything. But I think most of the pro illegals are Mexicans anyway, and their people can do no wrong. They just want more Mexicans here and don't care if their criminals or not.
