remember the outrage at Danish cartoonists?

why does freedom of speech seem to come into question when people poke fun at religion, even threaten to kill (even if 'peaceful' religion)

can't religion stand up to fun and questions?

he told me that it is very healthy to be able to laugh at one's self

This is a great question and I think the answer is that not every person in every religion can't take a joke but rather that the people who are insecure in their beliefs can't take a joke that might make them think or feel funny about what they believe

Some people just take their religion too seriously. This is not inherent in religion, just in how people deal with it. Generally I'd say that religious humor is actually quite funny.

Ahhhh, MIRTH and reverence. Both are important.

Most of the Pagans I know make fun of themselves. And we write filks and satires about ourselves.

my opinion is, I think of God as a member of my family, would you want someone to make fun of your dad or grandpa? well, would ya?
