Mashallah I am an American convert and those words to me didn't mean much long ago now I love to hear and say these seemingly simple words. Allah hu Akbar!
Just closing your eyes and saying these words in the most dire situation will brighten up any situation.

just to clarify all the answerers, the word Allah-o-Akbar means "Allah is great" or "God is great"
its not war cry either.
