A 540 kick?
Gods. What a waste.
I have seen it but, in my Dojang, such flash-and-dance ineffectual moves were not even taught.
That is nothing but a "looky at what I can do!" move. You can devote your time better to traditional, and effective, techniques.
A good Dojang/Dojo/Daguan, to me, does not teach meaningless moves.
Spinning techniques? Just step in on them as they spin and take them down. I found the same thing with jumping techniques. I am one of those guys who loves sparring partners who use spinning and jumping techniques on me.

First off, your a bit of a talker. No offense but that's a lot more than I wanted to read. lets move on. I am a Black Belt in WTF Tae-Kwon-Do. I've bone it for 9 years. From what you've told me, I would bet $50 bucks that say she's never gotten a yellow belt, let alone a black. If you've been in it for 7 years, you know how to spell it. second of all, what ind of Black belt picks fights with people? a bad one. Even if by some miscalculated miracle she actually is has a black belt, she only HAS a black belt. She isn't a real black belt. Black belts don't pick fights in school, period. lastly, avoid the fight if you can. You will gain nothing if you fight, even if you win. but you could loss much. If you fight her as an equal, you are her equal. Do you want that?

If you can utilize a 540 on an opponent, you don't need Tae Kwon Do to defeat him. Your black belt will make you much more polished, not much new. You are now going to head into good forms for a while. Do not be upset if your instructor recalls some of your yellow or orange belt stuff for a refresher. Solid attacking and striking will not be as important again until 3rd or 4th Dan.

You don't think a 540 is a meaningless kick? What would you use that for?
I'm sorry to say this, but just by asking this question you don't appear ready for a black belt.

Most kicks in Taekwondo are meaningless... the 540 is the biggest example of craptastic kicking... it sure shows stamina though! the only kicks that are practical in TKD are the round kick NEVER ABOVE THE RIBS.... and the push kick or back kick.... thats it.... Axe kicks are for crap.... spinning anything other than a back kick gets you dead...

Just because you are a black belt or soon will be one, don't expect some "hidden world" to expose itself. All a black belt means is that you are an advanced beginner. Now is the time that you will break down all of your techniques to study them and find more power in them. You will also become more involved in the teaching aspect of it also. You will find that when you teach other students, you will also learn more about yourself.

You won't learn any kicks as a black belt that you did not learn as a yellow belt. You will just learn how to do them BETTER!

it depends on your instructor. all schools are different. in mine other things are emphasised , for example using the tools you already have , advanced sparring technique and things of that nature. by the time someone tests for 1st dan at my school they have been taught all kicks.
