Yes. 75% of criminals in jail are Christian. And .2% are atheist.

An interesting question! My answer would be generally no.

I think when a person commits a crime (with one exception, noted below) they usually aren't thinking about either their religious code (if Christian) or ethical code (if atheist), so I don't think their views on God really enter into it.

The one exception is when a person commits an act of civil disobedience. In that case, he is knowingly breaking a law, and he has probably thought a lot about what he is doing and what the consequences may be. The motivation for committing the act may be based upon religion (think of Martin Luther King) or it could be based upon a strong feeling for a cause (an atheist would have felt the cause was worth being arrested), but in either case the act was committed because the perpetrator felt it would help some cause.

Just because atheists don't believe in God doesn't mean that they don't have a conscience and don't know right from wrong. Sheesh! Atheists are not bad people (by the way I am Christian). This also doesn't necessarily mean that all Christians are good people.

Probably the reason why there are more Christians in jail than Atheists is because there are more Christians in the world than there are Atheists.

In commiting a crime no.
Anyone who claims to be a Christian doesn't mean they are one.
For if they really got a hold of what G-d is telling them to do they won't commit a crime.
Meanwhile an atheist can claim situational ethics and believe they shouldn't be punished.

No, the punishment is the same...

The Christian violates the 8th commandment of
of God and the Atheist by there unbelief, violates all of Gods Commandments, the punishment will be the some, if living they will be turned in to ashes by the brightness of Jesus returning, sleeping in the graves they will tried by the righteous and throne into the lake of fire as to what they deserve...

Who is really trying to keep count? Of course there are more christians in prison than atheists because there is a larger ratio of christians to atheists in society.

Yes. According to Sam Harris's Letter to a Christian Nation, less than 1% of the prison population is atheist.

Crime rate is higher for Christians. Inverse correlation. Prison population, much larger ratio of Christians in jail to free Christians than vice versa towards Atheists and Agnostics.

The prison population would say "yes"

Either atheists commit less crimes or get caught less.

Tens of millions of deaths can be attributed to Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot, (arguably Hitler too since he was the logical outgrowth of nietschism (God is dead)) all Christians combined for the past 2,000 years haven't even accidentally posted that kind of numbers.

No, criminals of all faiths, philosophies, and backgrounds have nearly identical motivations: greed, selfishness, contempt or lack of consideration for others, desperation, pure foolishness.
