Heck yeah it's cheaper! The place I'm getting married at charges $250 a head for a Saturday evening wedding....and only $150 for a Friday evening wedding...same food...top shelf open bar..everything exactly the same. Even my band charging me less for 6 hours of music on a Friday night, plus one hour of cocktail music/ceremony music. Approx $2,500 less. Flowers were the same price unfortunately, as was the photographer. I honestly couldn't care less if it was a Friday or Saturday, so I went with the (less expensive) Friday. I have a friend who got married on a Sunday..and that was even less than the Friday!

For most venues, Friday weddings are cheaper. However, occassional there are venues where Friday evening weddings are not discounted. Your best bet is to contact the venues you are interested in and compare costs for holding a wedding ceremony and reception on different days and at different times. You can save a lot of money by having a wedding Monday through Thursday or during the morning on the weekends. You'll just have to check around and see.

It is usually 20% cheaper per head than Saturday evening weddings. Of course, it is still an expensive ordeal no matter what day. Just make sure you have it late enough on Friday so that people aren't overly inconvenienced with work and traveling during rush hour.

I agree with Monty the week days are ALOT cheaper. But also a major factor in your cost is what time of day. It took a fast few minutes for me to change my mind from an evening affair to a noon wedding. The amount of food for a noon wedding is alot less than an evening wedding. Which helped out significantly for our other costs!!

Yes, it is cheaper. Week nights are good because they lower their prices to bring people in. It is better to get paid a lower rate than to not get paid at all. I could have had my wedding on a Friday but it was to hard for people to get there with work and being out of town so I had it on Saturday and I paid 600.00 more !

You are going to pay prices for evening...but that still may be cheaper than paying for Saturday or Sunday rates...Some places may have set rates and may vary. It's all going to depend on what you are looking at. Just call around and get quotes...that's all you can do! And keep a notebook with dates, times, and names of what you were quoted so that you can fall back on the prices. Best of luck to you...congratulations!

i got married on a friday, and it was cheaper. as well, we were the only wedding scheduled at the place on the day, so we could go in early and set up if we needed to (they normally have two weddings on saturdays).

For most weddings this holds true, but if you are having a potluck style reception and a ceremony in a place that you or someone close to you owns, there is very little price difference.

I'm not having mine on a Friday but when looking over cost sheets and pricing guidelines, Friday or Sunday is the way to go...weird but true...
