I was driving along and got pulled over my a cop for having too much snow on my car, yeah, too much snow on my car. I got a $35.00 ticket. Should I appeal?
Both driver side windows were clear, the passenger side windows were about 30% clear, the back windshield was melting away with my defroster running and the front windshield was about half way cleared with the defroster running

its not worth it. $35 is less than what it would cost for you to take a day off and be incourt for hours! just pay the ticket, it doesnt affect your insurance anyway.

I live in Ohio and I know about Massachusetts' law about too much snow on your car.
Just pay the $35 and clear ALL snow off your car next time. The thing is, snow flying off the ROOF your car can be a hazard--it could fly into the windshield of the car behind you and create a hazard for the driver behind you.
Take a few extra minutes, clear the snow off your car, and save yourself some cash.

It's a traffic hazard - if the snow comes off, it can blind another driver or cause a hazard in the roadway and perhaps an accident.
Not a provision of the law you run into much, but it's there and an appeal probably wouldn't do you much good.
On the other hand, it sometimes is worth while to go to court and explain. I had an $85 ticket reduced to $35 because the judge liked my explanation.

You almost certainly got this ticket because the officer observed a large chunk of snow/ice flying off your car, probably you did not clear your roof? This is classified as "neglect". As the car warmed up, and you sped up, doubtless the "lid" came off in one piece. It must have landed harmlessly since you only got a ticket. There have been instances of this happening and the chunk hits another car.
Pay your $35 and count yourself lucky, it could have just as easily been a manslaughter charge & jail time had your chunks caused a fatal accident...

I wouldn't try to fight this in court. You said it yourself. The Back window was melting away. However, it was probably covered. The front windshield was half way cleared? That's nowhere near enough. It needs to be closer to 100%.

What if a car was driving in front of you with the same amount of snow on your car, except that it had frozen, and it came off once he hit a faster speed..and it went through your windshield?

I drove with a huge pile of snow on the roof of my car and while driving, it slid forward and covered my entire windshield. It was too heavy for the wiper blades to wipe off.
This could've happened to you if you didn't get that ticket!!

You could appeal, but it won't get you anywhere. They needed your $35 to meet their budget for the month. If it wasn't you, it would have been someone else paying it.
