The US government ONLY confiscated funds related to BetOnSports.com. This got twisted into the internet rumor that the US has confiscated all Neteller funds.

There was a "run on the bank" with Neteller since, unlike a service like PayPal, there's no reason to use it other than online gaming. They are probably facing short-term liquidity problems, as most institutions will keep deposits in some sort of low-risk investments so they can generate money while they have them. In addition, their check, EFT, and ATM services were all pulled out of DOJ fear.

There are no guarantees at this point, but it would seem unlikely that we never get money back. Timing is the real issue. The rumor that the FBI is freezing everything was created by the "telephone game" on the internet: where "Certain accounts associated with BetOnSports.com are frozen as evidence in an upcoming trial" became "The FBI is freezing everyone's Neteller money."

EDIT: Ditto to ZCT's point about holding politicians accountable. Call your congressperson and senators and voice your displeasure. It may not amount to anything but it's the most likely way that the UIGEA and it's BS method of getting passed can be overturned. Also, check out the Poker Players' Alliance.

You know that is a difficult questions, rumors have it that the money is being held as evidence in the Neteller case. Unfortunately because the US Government believes this money was used in illegal activity, they don't have to return it. It will be interesting to watch this whole thing unfold but I certainly feel bad for those who have large sums in trust. I would suggest if you want to continue to play poker or bet on sports online to use your credit card depositing small sums at a time. The site below lists poker rooms that offer credit card deposit and other methods that are quite safe from the long arm of the law! Good luck to you and I hope you have your 1k returned. I know I have quite a chuck in there too.

I think that's a rumor. I think it will take a few more weeks to get our money but it will come.

When they were forced to close their doors to Americans by ill conceived government policy they would have received several hundred thousand requests for money in the space of 48 hours. This is going to take ages to process. Especially since American banks are being bullied by the government not to handle gambling related transactions.

So I think the money will come, we will just have to be patient. Also we should be very mindful of the politicians who made this happen, and be sure to send them a very clear message at the ballot box.

There are a lot of sites examining the issue, but let me suggest BillRini.com. Good luck.
