Sounds like your kitty needs more attention or toys. Try dangling something at the end of the stairs to keep her attention instead of trying to trip you when you are on the stairs. Pet stores have great little things that you can tie on door knobs etc, that cats can play with.

She's probably playing with you. My cat is almost 4yrs old and she still lurks behind doors and closets and pounces on me when I walk by. Get her a Kitty Condo, she will love it. Put it in front of a window, it will keep her occupied for hours. I've got 2 of them, 84" tall. There not cheap so check out Craigslist list or live Deal.

Your cat likes you, I would worry if she ignored you.

He may be 'attacking you' because he's afraid that you are going to 'leave him all alone' (he may not be able to climb stairs, or simply wants to be carried up them) or he may simply be 'playing with you' because you are 'leaving him' ... so I suggest that you get a 'basket' that your cat can 'ride up the stairs' and back down again 'in comfort' and that you praise him and pet him whenever he 'gets in' (or you put him in), thus you'll be 'substituting an 'acceptable behavior' (getting in the basket for a ride) for an 'unacceptable behavior' (attacking you).

LOL be happy. your cat loves you and considers you a playmate. If it's really that bothersome. Fill a plastic soda bottle with beans. and when the cat jumps, toss it in her general direction (not at her) and the sound should be enough to let her know that her pounce is an undesired reaction.

Cats love to pounce at anything that moves. Try one of those feathers on a wand.

It will probably outgrow it a little with age.

He probably thinks you're playing with him. He sees your feet go up and down and is attracted to it and probably wants to play with them thinking they're one of those "chase the mouse" things. When you walk up the stairs, throw one of his toys at him so he can be distracted.

i cant tell you the exact reason for your cats actions but my cat attacks me when he wants attention or when he wants to be feed and watered..
You just need to figure out what its needs are and go from there..

Because its fun. They use life skills that they would use in the wild as a form of play.
