Put some warm soapy water in the pan and put it on the stove on low and let it come to a simmer. This way, the water heats up and really helps to soften the cooked on egg. Give it a try!

As far as cooking bacon, I have to agree with some of the other posters. If you are going to fry an egg in the same skillet after bacon, remove the bacon, drain off the grease, and at least wipe out the pan. Oh on a side note: Just use water and a scrub pad when you clean an iron skillet. Using soap will take the season off and make just about everything stick.

When you have finished cooking your eggs run water and dish washing liquid into the pan and let soak then take a Brillo pad and scrub it off

Let it soak a bit, but if you don't have time for that, I've found that COLD water, not warm or hot, does the job the best. (same for cleaning mashed potatoes out of a pan)

my husband ALWAYS "forgets" the pam before cooking eggs (i guess i should be happy he's cooking...) i usually just let it soak overnight, just make sure you have either a garbage disposal or a drain strainer in your sink for all the clumpy pieces that will come off in the morning

Pour a little water in it and add some dishwashing detergent. Let it soak for two hours and it slides right off!
